Assumption of the Virgin – Correggio

Correggio was a 16th century Italian renaissance artist. (August 1489 – March 5, 1534). I am studying for a window show proposal. This piece by Correggio caught my eye because of the depth and different perspectives all piled on top of each other. The painting is a fresco in the dome of the Cathedral of Parma, Italy. It took 8 years to create and was finished in 1530. The painting is strongly religious and includes the characters; Jesus, his mother Mary, various Apostiles and Adam and Eve. I do not know the story behind of the painting but I admire the use of multiple perspectives from the iconic religious characters, all uniformly involved in a extremely imaginatively elicit scene.
